Cynthea Semmens

Owner + Vigneron – Marions Vineyard

Cynthea Semmens arrived in Tasmania as a 5 year old from San Francisco where her parents purchased a 36 acre bush block and started to plant vines on the Tamar River. Cynthea studied Wine Marketing at Roseworthy, Wine Science at Charles Sturt, and completed 7 vintages overseas before beginning a 6 year position with Hardy Wine Company in South Australia. Cynthea’s first introduction to Biodynamics was with the International Biodynamics conference in 2004, which changed her belief in agriculture systems. Cynthea returned to Tasmania to and established her own label Beautiful Isle Wines before she and husband David, along with sons Solomon and Aristotle were able to buy into the family business at Marions Vineyard in 2018. In 2021 Marions Vineyard gained its organic and biodynamic certification and remains committed to respecting nature and reducing its footprint in as many ways as possible…

Cynthea will be appearing at Conversations in the City, in the Grow Stream – Landscapes.
