Fran Smith comes from a farming family.  She holds a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Physical Chemistry   and has more than 20 years’ experience in the Tasmanian water industry.  She leads a team of more than 40 scientists with a focus on sampling and testing water from catchment to treatment to customer and wastewater from inlet to treatment, discharges, reuse and the receiving environment.  Fran and her team ensure capital expenditure and operational processes are targeted to mitigate any risks to the environment. Also key to Fran’s work is looking to the future and developing strategies to ensure climate change adaptation.
