Damir Mujanic

Damir’s culinary journey began with an early understanding of food as connection. Growing up as an immigrant, he learned that sharing meals builds bridges across cultures and communities. This foundation has shaped his career spanning Sydney’s respected restaurants, innovative pop-ups, and large-scale community kitchens.

As Executive Chef at OzHarvest, Damir helps transform rescued ingredients into thousands of nutritious meals weekly for vulnerable Australians. His work extends beyond the kitchen to mentoring chefs, running community cooks, and supporting food programs nationwide.

Drawing from both his commercial hospitality background and lived experience of displacement, Damir brings a unique perspective to food relief one that honours ingredients, maintains dignity, and recognizes that a good meal can be transformative. Whether in a fine dining venue or a charity kitchen, his philosophy remains constant: cook with purpose, connect through food, and create meals that nourish both body and spirit.
