Franki Birrell

Made Launceston her Tasmanian home when she moved here from Queensland with her architect partner, Jim, in 2017.
After a hiatus in her chosen field of painting, due to her caring for Jim as his health deteriorated, she needed a project to throw her creative energy behind. They moved into the old Gunn home for a unique opportunity to restore and nurture a building significant to the history of Launceston.
Franki has worked in various fields, as a graphic artist, art studio manager, artist, company and hospital board director and body corporate and building management chairman. She has designed various play props and was part of the Maroochy Music and Visual Arts Festival for four years. Franki has worked on projects with her husband in Papua New Guinea and has had a solo exhibition in London and a joint exhibition in Denmark.
Her passion for entertaining and cooking has evolved over many years with Franki and her architect husband holding many dinners and events during their life in Queensland and in Claremont.
