Dr Kiah Smith
Using futures thinking – an approach that helps people explore complex challenges, imagine better futures and design practical ways forward – Kiah’s research contributes new understandings of how communities experience food justice in Australia and internationally. Rather than only focusing on food production or supply, her work explores questions such as: who has access to good food, who misses out, and what can governments and organisations learn from communities already creating practical solutions based on human rights, inclusivity and equity? She leads Fair Food Futures, a research and policy initiative exploring community visions of food justice. Her podcast was named #8 in sustainability podcasts nationwide, and she regularly advises the United Nations, Future Earth, FIAN International, CSIRO and the Australian government.
