Krystal Caton is a first-generation farmer who, with her family, owns Lush Lychees, a lychee orchard near Rockhampton in Central Queensland. Since buying the orchard in 2016, just after Cyclone Marcia, they have built it into a leading lychee business, supplying premium fresh fruit across Australia and overseas. She has also turned fruit that misses fresh-market grade into a range of condiments, preserved lychees and spirits, including a lychee liqueur that won Silver at the 2026 Melbourne Royal Australian International Spirits Awards. A 2025 Nuffield Scholar, Krystal studied how family farms can capture more of the value they create.
